Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of ScratchJourney. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. We've kept them short and readable.

1. The service

ScratchJourney (scratchjourney.com) is a service that lets you track the countries and regions you've visited, keep notes and photos, earn points, and share a public profile. It is currently provided free of charge. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

2. Your account

• You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your password secure.
• You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.
• You must be old enough to use the service in your country (at least 16 in the EU).
• Contact us if you believe your account has been used without your permission.

3. Acceptable use

When using ScratchJourney, you agree not to:

• break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
• upload content that is illegal, hateful, harassing, or infringes others' copyright;
• attempt to disrupt, attack, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the service;
• scrape or harvest data from the service in bulk without permission.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you add (notes, photos, captions). By adding it, you grant us a limited licence to store and display it solely to operate the service for you. You are responsible for the content you upload and confirm you have the right to use it. Remember that your public profile (your display name, scratched countries, and stats) is visible to anyone with the link.

5. Privacy

Your use of the service is also covered by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect and your rights over it.

6. Intellectual property

The ScratchJourney name, design, code, and underlying software belong to us and our licensors. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond using the service as intended.

7. Availability & disclaimer

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Ending your use

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time from your profile, which permanently removes your data. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms or misuse the service.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the service after changes means you accept them.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Belgium. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence still apply.
